How it works
- Someone calls your business number and you can’t pick up.
- Within seconds, they get a text from the same number: who you are, sorry you missed them, how can we help.
- They reply by text. You, your team or an AI assistant answers, books the job or takes the details.
It works with the number you already have. Customers don’t need to download anything.
What the text should say
“Hi, this is [business]. Sorry we missed your call! How can we help? You can also book here: [link]”
- Say your business name first so they know who’s texting.
- Ask a question so they reply.
- Add a booking link if you have one.
Is it worth it? Do the math
Missed calls a week × share that would have become a job × average job value × 4 = what missed calls may cost you a month.
Your phone’s call log tells you the first number. Be honest with the second. Try our missed-call calculator to play with it.
Text-back alone, or an AI receptionist?
Plain text-back sends one message and leaves the rest to you. An AI receptionist keeps the conversation going: it answers questions, books the appointment and follows up, then hands off to a person when it should. Our AI text agent, which includes text-back, is $89/mo plus setup.
Mistakes to avoid
- Robotic messages (“Your call is important to us”).
- Texting back and then never answering the reply.
- Letting an automated reply promise prices or times you haven’t approved.
- Texting people who never contacted you. Only reply to people who called you, and honor STOP.
